Nestled in the countryside of Bloomville, NY lies this unexpected treasure...

I was heading upstate to join the Walton graduating class of '81 in celebrating their 30th reunion. Knowing I would need a place to lay my head once festivities wound down, I googled B&B's in the Delaware County area.  Lucky me,  the Turquoise Barn appeared!  B&B full, I was offered a bed in their hostel/barn or a campsite for the night.  Ah! Something I had not done before... I grabbed a bed in the barn.

Back to basics, no need for a wake-up call from the front desk.  It just comes naturally, no extra charge!

I woke up to the fog rolling off the hills and the calmness of the day settling into my bones.  The beauty of absolute serenity. What a pleasure.

Easy warmth and hospitality...

Host Michael Milton served up a scrumptious vegan breakfast for the 12 of us. Sautéd greens, watermelon-lettuce juice, fried plantains, fresh kiwi and melon, and a cold oatmeal concoction that was out of this world.

(Sorry to have missed you, Michelle. Will have to catch your culinary delights the next time around...)

It came time to head out, but not before I visited their vegetable garden and browsed the barn gallery filled with Michelle & Michael's uniquely crafted wood sculptures, paintings and vintage jewelry! Loved it all!

As I sit here writing this, my mind roams back to an evening of reconnecting "full circle" and how
children, education and the visual arts have shaped my life. Providing me with an extended family broader than I could ever imagine, you continue to lead me places I have never been before.

Thank you world!
